Went to scope it out. Looks like it's seen quite a bit of traffic lately. Looking at giving Aemmers a go in the next few days. You're welcome to join if you want.

Anyone planning on doing Ha-Ling or EEOR in the next couple of days, be warned, Parks Canada has their napalm out and is burning on the back side of the Goat Range. The smoke cloud is hitting Canmore as I write this.

yum.... Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what the Yamnuska scramble route is like for this weekend? Has it managed to get any of the recent sun?

Was climbing in Heart creek today and it was raining ash from that burn. Once you get into Banff the smoke is non existent. Hopefully the wind keep blowing east

Had to do some things in Calgary so I decided to check out a few Canmore scrambles. Did Windtower today. Knee-deep snow for a few hundred meters below the cliff bands, the rest of the route is snow-free. Rimwall appears to be in good condition too.

Parks Canada spoiled the scenery with the controlled forest burns in Goat Creek and near the south-western side of Spray Reservoir. The smoke was so bad that I couldn't see Canmore.

I'm sure the Yam scramble route is in great shape... although it'll be a little snowy/muddy near the summit.

There were over 50 cars at the trailhead during the last 2 weekends and I was watching dozens of people on the scramble route while hanging off the rope.

Hey all,

New to the site but just thought to post some trail conditions- Nahahi ridge today and almost all the snow was gone, a couple of small patches just before getting onto the ridge, and some runoff on the small climb up, other than that it was dry as a bone. Surprising because last weekend we went to Fullerton and turned around due to VERY much snow about crotch deep to be specific. Anyway thats all for now Ill try to post some pictures of the trip.

Welcome to the forum!

Was bored after work today so I hiked up the teahouse on Lady Mac. Encountered small patches of snow but easily avoidable.

All of the scrambles in the Canmore/Bow Valley area look doable... except for maybe Big Sister.

Fantastic corn skiing at Bow Summit area right now. Watch out for warming and slab avalanches still, there has been some really big f'ers rip out since Friday.

Anyone want to go ski some thing either tommorrow or Tuesday?? Either the chute off of Saddleback next to Fairview, or the upper chute on Bow Summit....not sure of the proper name for that one.

Went up Fairview with my two friends on Sat. on snowshoes. Still lots of snow before Saddleback Pass (up to 1,5 meters deep) but the snow has gone higher up. Snow was generally very supportive. Hiking without snowshoes would be sheer trudgery at this point although we met a guy on the summit who did it with his dog.

Kootenay Plains were all shrouded in smoke on Sun, which made us abort scrambling in that area. Damn it!

Went (most of the way) to Association Peak on Saturday. Conditions were bare and dry the whole way, with the exception of the two creeks which had depths of about 2 feet in the best fording spots. We could see some snow further up on the col but couldn't tell if it extended furher to the NE.

The access road to Bugaboo was very muddy about 4 to 5 km from the park. A camper was stuck there for quite some time when I got there. We spent about half an hour or more to try to get the camper unstuck but to no avail. I had to give the people a ride down to get help. The place is still full of snow. Not ready for climbing yet.

No problems to Cory Pass direct.

North side of Cory Pass, waist deep snow. Scree-slope traverse round back side of Mt Edith has deep snow sections and snow-free sections. We found an ice-axe useful. NE side of Mt Edith, snow worsens again before you enter trees (waist-deep), and stays bad for about 1km in the trees.

Tough struggle but do-able. Especially now we broke a nice trail

K-Country is definitely a home for big animals, and everywhere you go, you must be prepared for encounters.

- The seasonal trail closures for elk are starting to open up again.
- The bears are awake and on the move.
- Ticks are very very hungry.

I've walked on fresh bear tracks ...

South from King Creek. This means that, below the Hwy 40 winter gate, you gotta watch out.

This weekend on the Ribbon Falls Trail, which is closed at the falls, but I don't know about the Smith-Dorian side of Mt Bogart.

It's easy to phone the Parks Info guys the day before you visit. That will give you time for "Plan B".

Hi everyone.

I'm new to the site, and fairly new to hiking the Rockies and was hoping for some advice.

The biggest thing I'm unsure on is what trails are going to be snow covered. We're heading off to Kananaskis this weekend, planning to hike a few of Mt. Indefatigible, King Creek Ridge, Wasootch Ridge, Goat Glacier, Sparrowhawk Tarns. Do you think these will be in good condition?

Also, I've heard about the fires (so I think Goat Glacier's a no go), but I was hoping someone could tell me a number I could call to find out conditions.

Really appreciate any help you can give,
Thanks.
