Just a quick reminder of the Kencam which is always up 24hrs a day.
Feel free to bookmark my page but please don't leave it streaming 24hrs a day. It kills my bandwidth.

I believe that it's snowing... it's showing this date presently though 2006-09-09 09:00:10. Just a glitch? |

| Oh yeah, I keep on forgetting to change the date. I'll fix it as soon as I remember my administrator password... |

Wow! Glad to see someone is getting out. It seems to me that this has been the longest, coolest spring since I moved to Calgary circa 1981. I have been freezing my patootty off trying to train on the road bike. It still looks like there's lots of snow to get through before hiking season starts.
Ken, I've added your webcam link to the webcam page so that people access through Mapitfirst. Hope you're ok with that. If anyone know of other web cams, let me know!

Tom,
I have no problem with the proliferation of my webcam. However, I can't guarantee that Shaw will re-assign me the same IP during an outage.
BTW, I noticed that there's another webcam pointing to the 3 sisters. I wonder if I should point my camera in a different direction. I've got a fairly good shot at Ha Ling. Hmm... |

| Good one Sob Buster. I like the stick information. Seems low-tech but what do I know. |

Ken, As long as you don't point it in your house. The last thing we need is to see you lurking about in your jammies... or worse |

| You know Tom, I found a great deal on a motorized webcam last year. One which allows the viewer to pan and elevate the camera using their web interface. I thought it'd be cool until I realized that people could rotate the camera 180 degrees. |

^Nice. Chinaman's/EEOR could be a cool alternate view.

Spring? What spring?
Other webcams for Tom: Sulphur Mountain is one of my favourites. Lake Louise has a few around the skihill. There's one at the top and bottom of Turtle Mountain, though the top one seems to be out at the moment. (This one too might be limited bandwidth, since I think it's just the monitoring guys that have it up. Be nice to it. :)) There are also some time-lapse movies from the static images, which are pretty neat.
Is everyone else able to see the Barrier Lake field station one? I'm wondering whether it's down or just the fault of my computer. |

^I'm guessing you mean the clickable Sulphur Mountain cam? You've cropped poorly and thus gibbled my link.

Ah, yeah. I left the page open for a while and it eventually loaded. Thanks for confirming. |

The gate to Little Elbow opened up yesterday and we thought we might do a bike, hike and ski to Cornwall. We didn't need the bikes as this is what the bike trail looked like about 1 km from the bridge at Little Elbow campground.

Update on Celestine Lake Road, Jasper I was surprised to find the gate open this morning so I guess the road is open. There are no signs stating otherwise. Only a week ago I phoned parks and they said that it'll be closed until July 31, maybe closed all summer. I have found Parks Canada to be pretty useless over the years with questions I have had and here's another example of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. There is no point in phoning them to see if the opening is just temporary or not. |

Nahahi ridge trail :
Little Elbow trail mostly clear of snow to the west side of Nahahi. Flatter areas of Nahahi trail are snow bound. Either people worked the edges of the drift or walked right through. Slopes tilting to the south or west typically free of snow and patchy snow up higher. East side of the upper ridge is snow bound. West descent route has patchy snow up high and in the trees closer to the little elbow trail. Had to overcome some snow at the base of the first scramble option to access the ridge proper instead of traversing below the ridge (snow bound). |
