| Was up Heart Mountain yesterday which was clear. Couldn't see any snow on Yamnuska, but I don't have any pictures of it. |

| Holy cow, is it ever raining here in Jasper. There is fresh snow on Whistler's. I bet the Edith Cavell road is closed again. It just opened to the public yesterday. The rain is supposed to continue for three more days. |

The bridge into Peyto hut, the one at the start of the canyon before the moraines will not be replaced by Parks Canada. This bridge was washed out last September during a rainy period.

For parties going in or out it will probably be best to cross the river near the inlet to Peyto lake.

It will probably be best to stay on the left side until the narrow section a bit downstream. (the same place you have to walk in the winter for a couple of minutes) then you will have to climb around this and then drop to the creek bed again.

Some photos from Highwood Pass, went for a drive after climbing and having a blast at Wasootch when it started to rain around 1500 to check out Cowbell Crag.
Cheers,

Hi everyone, fairly new here, so maybe I'm just not looking in the right spots yet. I was just wondering more about Jasper conditions with all this rain lately. I was considering hitting the first two Geraldine lakes sometime this week, seeing as it's supposed to be somewhat nicer weather. Just wondering if it's worth my 3-4hr drive only to find out conditions are horrible. Thanks for any help!

Jasper has a trail conditions website on which Geraldine Lakes is listed (http://www.pc.gc.ca/apps/tcond/cond_e.asp?oPark=100244). To save you the click, it says "GERALDINE LAKES - No fires, Condition: Good / Fair, Comments: Snow at higher elevations"
Personally, I think it would be much prettier if you wait and do this one later in the summer. |

Welcome to club tread. The Geraldine Lakes trail is always muddy so the recent rains won't change it too much. If the weather is nice this coming weekend then it will be fine. If anything, the rain will make the falls even nicer |

Went up Pyramid Mountain yesterday. I hiked the fire-road instead of cycling, definitely not recommended. It was a loooong trip. Patches of deep snow still exist from the base of the mountain up. Most of the route is dry but there is still lots of snow on the upper half. In some places I was struggling in knee-to-crotch deep wet snow. Most of the snow can be avoided though if you prefer scrambling on huge boulders. Both ways are painstakingly slow. Wet and sharp boulders required very careful footing. The snow was more fun on the descent. I experienced all 4 seasons on the mountain.
The mountain is in condition if you don't mind some snow, ice-axe recommended. Wait at least 10 days more if you prefer boulder hopping.

Thanks Engor for the update. I recall on my trip to Pyramid Mountain walking my bike up the whole way up the approach trail as it is very steep. The return ride was fast and I had both hands clenched hard on the brakes and still went uncomfortably fast. I had to stop a couple times so my hands could rest.
I have the 29th and 30th off for scrambles. I am having a hard time coming up with something. The ones I want to do may be snowbound still. Commonwealth Peak? Mt Weed? Mt Burgess? |

I'm not surprised, Jeff, that you pushed your bike all the way up but it was well worth for the fast descent. This is a really boring and monotonous road! It may be a good place for cross-country skiing in the winter though.
Are you still in Edmonton? I'd be glad to join you on some scrambles. I'm very busy these days but should have more free time from mid-July on. |

| Sofa Mountain (Waterton), great shape (meadows greener than I have ever seen them). Wind was unreal on the ridge. |

| Took the day off and went up Ha Ling today. A little muddy in sections in the trees, but pretty much dry overall. |

I am still in Edmonton area but I am in Lethbridge for the next 3 weeks while spending some time with my in-laws. Will be here until July 20th or so. I am free from July 4 - 10th. I am going on a little peak bagging road trip that week so would welcome any companionship. Leaving Lethbridge on the 4th, might do St Eloi down south then work my way up north until Banff by the weekend (9th and 10th).
I am on a parental leave of absence from work until January so I can be a little more flexible with schedules. Though I do have a wife and two kids now, one of which is a newborn baby. They do command some attention but I can get away the odd day or two.

Very funny. I am actually planning on Sofa this Thursday so good to know it is in shape. I figured it would be in shape. Just hope the bears don't get me. |

| If anyone tries out the Skyline early this year (or anything in the area-ish), I'd love to hear. |

| Rachelo - there is a facebook group called the "Jasper Trail Alliance" (I think it is run by wardens) and they just posted pictures of the skyline trail from June 28th. If you're not on facebook or can't find the group, I can grab the photos and post them here for you. Overall, it's snowy and wet and the Notch looks pretty snowy. |

I found them. Thanks a lot for the direction! Something tells me I won't be seeing any trip reports for the Skyline for another couple weeks... |

Went up Wind Ridge today. The steeper parts are dry and lots of flowers out including forgetmeknots, western anemones, shooting stars, arnica and many others. There were a few wet sections lower down but nothing that was a problem. A very nice Canada Day out!

From Waterton NP on Saturday. Just did some shorties and exploring. Bears Hump and Crandell Lake trails both dry. Still snow down to the level of Cameron Lake.
