I'm including a number of logo concepts that we've tinkered with the past several months. I'm still not sure that we should even change the logo - maybe sticking with the look that we currently have in the banner of the site is the way to go. In any event, here are some of the thoughts that have been bantered arount. What do you think? Remember that this logo would be used on the site, and also on things like shirts, etc.
Concept 1

Concept 2

Concept 3

Concept 4

Concept 5

Concept 6

I like # 6, but I think the lettering would stand out more if it were yellow. Nice logos all around though......

Kerry (Outdoorguy) sent me a version last night by email. This is a comping example with yellow. Of course we'd change the text to match, etc., but it gives you an idea.

The yellow #6 is strong, and I also like #4 as a close second.(Both would look stellar on black t-shirts).Nice artwork!! Mick

I like #6 too, but the hiker logo in #1 is important since that's what we do. Perhaps #6 with "clubtread.com" on the horizontal line and the hiker logo in the space underneath?

Hey Russ - is there an issue with #6? Probably just read into your email...
My personal favs are 2 & 4. Think they are simple and generic. I think the #6 is nice, but it looks too much like the No Boundaries logo.
We shoulda had a web poll!

I saw a truck for bottled water today with a logo that was REALLY similar to #6. I wish I could remember what kind it was now. Thought I'd pass that along.

I like number 2 the best. It's simple, sleek, clean and neat, and easy to spot and understand.
IMHO #6 is too busy, you can't understand it until you're up and close. If it was put on something green or brown or even in bad lighting it would dissapear. It also looks copied from somewhere.
#3 looks silly and confusing. What makes the "T" for tread?
4 looks okay but mis-porportioned with the background.
5 the yellow is too distracting from the name and a little glaring.

I would like to congratulate you for # 3. I think it is very creative. It may be refined a little. I can understand how the other ones would find favour with the masses, but they are so predictable, so everybody else.
Kudos to your work on # 3 Jim. That's my vote!

Coolness! I would go for 2, 5, and 4, in that order. I particularly like the simplicity of #2, and the ambiguity as to whether mountains or waves are represented gives it more meaning. The more meaning you can put into the fewest lines, the better and more memorable a logo will be. #6 may have an issue with reproducability. Colour trapping for t-shirt printing is going to be somewhat harder because of overlapping colours, and some of the detail on the grass and mountain is going to be lost when scaled down. Also #6 resembles a number of logos, including one for water (can't remember who either) and I have seen something very similar for a couple outdoor outfitters. #1 I think is a bit too road-signish.
Just my $0.02. Unfortunately I am better at critiquing logos than actually doing them!
Nathan
