Hi, if anyone has info on the route that takes you to the start of the musical bumps from Harmony that would be great.

I have done a little research and no exact directions are given and finding for the winter is even harder.

I know you have to go to the Roundhouse on Whistler and from there you find the way. The last time I went with a group we had a map and a gps..the mtn people told us where to go..and we found ourselves walking on the ski runs..and getting crap for it..apparently it was the wrong way.. we saw our destination..but getting there was the problem..cause we had to cross the ski runs..

I know there is a way to avoid hiking with the skiers..and since the new runs have opened up finding the access route is more difficult.

Any feedback and information would be appreciated.

So basically I just need to know from the Roundhouse...where do I go to access the route to Musical bumps without being a nuisance to the skiers?

Thanks

From the top or the bottom of harmony?

EDIT Duh, i just saw that you asked about from the Roundhouse. I got messed up by the title of your thread.

From the Roundhouse you can walk the ridge to the headwall to climber's right of the T-bars. At the end of the ridge just contour over to the top of the T-bars.

There won't be many people on this ridge early season because its rocky as all hell

Once at the top of the T-bars, head along the Little Whistler ridge to the top of Harmony.

Once at the top of Harmony you've got to walk down the groomed run to the top of the Saddle

Once at the Saddle you can then walk the ridge of Piccolo. Early season there won't be anyone there again because its rocky.

The ski runs are all over the entire mountain. It's certainly not possible to get out of bounds from the Roundhouse without crossing many many ski runs. Now that the Symphony chair goes to the top of piccolo and the near side of Flute is avalanche controlled and patrolled, most of the musical bumps have been effectively absorbed into the ski resort.

I would recommend taking the road from the Roundhouse to the top of Harmony Chair. The road starts out towards the left side of the ridge that leads to the top of the T-bars. The other route of taking the trail down into Harmony Bowl could be hard to follow now with the snow. The only chairs open on Whistler right now are Red and Green so you will only run into skiers for the first couple 100m near the Roundhouse.

Once at the top of Harmony, head down the ski run into Harmony Bowl, but keep right (keeping Piccolo mtn on your right), pass under Piccolo chair, and from here you can probably figure the rest of the way.

Yeah, I forgot that the Harmony and Symphony chairs are still closed.

Doesn't look like there is a whole heck of a lot of snow up there right now, even with them madly making snow for the past week or so.

I was going to say - I poked my head up into elevation yesterday and its definetely not snowing too much - mostly rain/freezing rain = not happy! Perhaps a musical bumps trip later into December would be wiser..
