Another sweet TR from AndyT...

Peak 8700- Downtown Creek-Skied N Face
Ascended 3740
Duration 4:04
Team-Mike Traslin, Andy Traslin

We got off to another early start 9:30AM from North Vancouver, The traffic was just brutal 6 hours to the start of the climb. From construction delays through to Squamish, car accident in Whistler, Funeral in Mt. Currie, Tree cutting on duffey lake road, active logging on downtown creek. We actually we’re going to turn around on three separate occasions due to brotherly disputes. Once Jordan Peters sent me the photo of this line, I knew we had to ski it. Proving that sometimes it is actually harder to get to the climb than actually doing the climb. I was little worried when I didn't see any snow at all past duffey lake road. Well we arrived at the climb at 2:30pm, we figured we drove all this way, we may as well go for a hike. Try to the reverse corn cycle for corn skiing. The travel was quick got to snow and a skin at 6000 feet, then scrambled up the ridge to avoid solar exposure. Skied the north face, 50 degrees to start then tapered off after this. Great corn ski to the rocks. Then we just followed the creek through a traveled trail to the rock garden and clear cut below. Well it ended like it like it started. The 15km descent wasn't the best for the 82 volvo as we had break failure on the steep descent. Luckily we didn't launch off the side, we waited for an hour to cool off the brakes.

Jim

That is a beautiful set of photos thanks to AndyT. He sure had no end of frusteration dealing with obstacles and delays in getting to his destination.

Thanks for posting.
