I know this is short notice, but I suddenly have 4 days off over the long (sort of) weekend. June 28 to July 1.

Was curious if anyone was interested in a quick 2-3 night backpack anywhere? Or if anyone was looking for another eager participant.

Female, 31. Don't have a whole lot of experience backcountry, but I've got all the gear, a car. And enthusiasm to spare...

Email me.

Thanks.

You'll have to tell people at the very least what province you're in.

Would you be willing to travel Jasper?

We are doing a 3 day trip from there that weekend.

I'd love to do an overnight hike, but unfortunately I get to work the wonderful long weekend.

What kind of level of hiking did you have in mind? I have Friday evening to Sunday evening and would be interested, but I am a pretty slow hiker this early in the season and I need something that will be pretty mild on the knees. Let me know if these aliments are something you can deal with ... I get that some people want to power through.

Cheers!

Thanks for the responses!

Jasper sounds amazing, but it may be a bit far this time...

Unfortunately, my circumstances have changed a bit and my four day weekend has turned into a two day weekend. Boohoo.

Still thinking about doing a quick overnighter on Saturday, though, if anyone's still interested... maybe Lindeman or Strike Lake...

I'd like to get a bag night in, but can't commit due to possible family stuff. I'm hoping to get Monday off - is anyone thinking of heading out for Sunday/Monday or Monday night?

Think it'll be Lindeman/Greendrop from Saturday. It's close by and apparently quite nice for a quick overnighter.

Let me know if anyone else might be interested...

I don't want to Pooh-pooh any fun, but this is a long weekend.... be prepared for the easy to access places like Strike Lake and Lindeman Lake to be gong shows of hooliganism. They both get stupid busy on long weekends.....

I just came back from two bag nights at Greendrop and had a great time. I'll see if I can find some time today to throw up a trip report.... I cleaned up a sh#t load of litter at the lake while I was there. It was very sad to show up and be greeted by litter, litter everywhere.

I know there were some respectable backpackers that had planned to camp at Lindeman on Saturday night but left because the campsite turned into a loud drunken party.

Just offering my 10 cents......

Hi 19-19-19,

If you can, find somewhere that needs forestry road access. Most holligans find this too troublesome to bother with. (Plus their mothers' cars won't get up the hill... I know, I have a corolla.) So if you wanted to do a forest service camp in C-Wack, here's a link:

http://www.tsa.gov.bc.ca/sites_trails/alerts.htm

(Go to the bottom of the page.)

Good luck this weekend...

holligans are actually worse than hooligans- they're holiday weekend hooligans... see, the teacher didn't make a spelling mistake, just improved the English vocabulary. =D

I hope you have a good time despite the hooli-gans. Will be nearby on Flora Peak overlooking Lindemann on Sunday, perhaps might see you and wave and say hi... We will be a group of nine "so far".
