I'm fond of my built-in 'ignore' button. It works as a combination of my eyes skipping to a lower line on the page, occasionally making use of my browser's 'back' button. When I see something stupid, I hit the mental button , and 'ignore' it. Works great!

I heartily agree. There will always be some twit who has to degrade the board whether it be stockhouse or CT. Thread locking is one way but I think deletion of twit would work much better.

I am with the group that says that CT is quite acceptable with tolerances and etiquette. In the last while things have been easy on everyone. Its a well respected place for anyone, new or old,to voice their thoughts and experiences.Sometimes, things get shaky and complex.Sometimes people, including myself, can have negative posts or rub ones individuality, but its usually short lived and positive results can be obtained over time

I think this "ignore button" is totally unnecessary. But I have to say that if I had a chance to use it this evening it would be to ignore you, AH.

This whole argument that CT is tame compared to other sites is somewhat of a poor excuse. Essentially, what you're saying is, "Well, all those other assholes do it, so until we're at their level of arguing and complaining, it's ok."

As those sites get worse and more out of control, it just allows people on here to continually say, "We're still not as bad as them," thus increasing the likelihood that our site will fall victim to the same nonsense that others have.

Also, AcesHigh just needs to stop posting so much.

I get a chuckle out of the posts on some of those other sites, they are pretty messed it's true, but entertaining. This site does have the same nonsense (in a polite west coast canadian kind of way) but seems more annoying than entertaining.

A perfect example of someone who nit picks on others, which is part of the problem. Try contributing towards the topic of discussion. I notice a lot of people try and pick apart others replies, and forget about the topic of discussion. If you have an idea or contribution that is great, picking apart others replies is childish.

I gave a suggestion to this thread, I seen more pick apart my idea, than contribute towards the thread itself.

I can't believe you are serious Jack...

Typical of the online world "ignore", "delete" - problem solved.

(I am saying neither 'for' or 'against' this silly button, so please don't add my name to any kind of list in this thread).

As an aside, I think Darren's post was well written. I didn't see any nitpicking there, just a comment in general that we justify our own 'bickering' based on how other forums behave. Course if they cleaned up their act then we'd all be angels

Hey, OK Jack:

I AM NOT in favor of an "Ignore" button, and think that it was a pretty classless move on your part to include me as "in favor" on your "list," which also strikes me as a bad idea.

Please remove me ASAP, and don't presume to speak for me again. Thanks!

Count me as against, since it would essentially amount to the repression of free speech. Censorship is a difficult role- just look at how well Jim has managed this site by judiciously monitoring the content yet by and large allowing things to play out as they happen. He has not locked very many threads over the years.
