Couldn't resist the pun. Q and I headed up to Vicar Lakes this past Sunday. The weather wasn't great but we had an excellent time of it despite the conditions and all the pre-trip logistical messing around. On our bikes at the LSCR lot by 9 AM. Fisherman's trail to spur 4 bridge and then up Seymour E. River Rd to the TH. Reached that by about 10:15. Secured the bikes, had a snack and headed up the trail. Click on the pics for the story.

Got to the lakes at a little before 2. Not what I'd call a fast pace but some of the footing in the upper regions was a bit tricky. thin snowbridges etc. Quick lunch up top and then headed back down as this was not a day for hanging around and enjoying the views .
Back to the bikes by about 4:30 and back at the car by 6, totally thrashed. 3rd times the charm though as this was my 3rd attempt at the lakes this year. Victory! but truth be told, without Q to encourage me near the top, I might have bailed again. Top notch attitude person to hike with. Thanks for the company, Q

| Excellent trip! It still looks like winter up there, but this week's rain will speed up the thaw immensely. |

Tracy, Tracy, Tracy, think challenging, rewarding, personal development, fun with ropes...I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The big trees are totally worth it even if you go no further. The destination feels like a real wilderness experience and you're only a couple of kms from downtown Vancouver. The Grind it ain't

| Yeah I know! Ha ha. Q did invite me, but I really wasn't feeling all that energetic so I passed in favour of something easier. Looks like great fun when you are feeling up to it!! |

Nice ! I've now been up there so many times I've even memorized the microterrain, so to speak. Footing is almost always a challenge on the way up to the lakes, it seems |

Thanks Scrambler! I had forgotten to check out the TR and pics for this earlier! I had had quite the epic day on Sat (snowshoeing, downhill ride of Ned's and kayaking all in one day!) so the follow up on Sunday made for my most active weekend ever. Top that off with a downhill ride on Fri eve, turning my back (right) leg to jelly, I was a muscular mess by Monday. And Tues, ANd wed. Hardcore!!! I love the trail as it is very exciting. NOt just plodding along a cushy bed of pine needles. THough sometimes it was that too. Great day out. |
