The approach road has been changed to the next turn off (paved) and then you double back to the Brandywine FSR.The road is in good shape but snow and a downed tree stopped us just past a 1000m level.Snow is going fast and someone will surely take care of the tree soon.
The Sledders cabin is a mess.We cut straight up toward the ridge.

We came across the snowcat track and then followed that into the Alpine area.We had snowshoes, but were not necessary.
The route up is easy. The terrain is gentle and we reached the summit for a late lunch and almost fell asleep enjoying the warm rays and solitude. We could hear some sleds in the Brandywine bowl, but for the most time it was very quiet and we did not see anyone else all day.

SPF 35 is not enough we found out later.I looked over the Brandywine summit approach. It looks OK but some extra care should be taken to avoid cornices and sluffing on the steeper sections. We found this hike quite enjoyable, great weather, good views,solitude,easy-fun terrain, but still got a 1000m vertical workout.

Me,scaling a massive 10 foot vertical, with Gin guiding me up PoohBear has Hip displacia,so no more lenghty trips for him.He is in good spirits though, and gets to enjoy car camping and base camps with us

Some summit pics

Regardgless of how "waterproof" or "sweat-proof" sunscreen is, it has to be re-applied every couple of hours if you're travelling on snow and sweating a lot. I've burned in 4 hours using spf 30 before; since I've started using the 2-hour rule I haven't burned again!
Good to see you got a piece of that sunshine.

Lynn I wish I could play some of that music myself In my Teens I used to play alot of classical guitar, but eventually dropped it. Gyppo Re applying is important, even though we had a nice recent Mexican tan,the snow/sun UV exposure was very strong. |

The knee was holding up great! I'm hoping it'll continue, I'll just have to keep the brace on for a little while yet ...
It was sooo nice to get out again on a good trip with great weather. I really missed being out in the mountains. |

| Nice video. Regarding the cabin: nothing like motorized transport to bring idiocy to remote locations. Pretty typical in my experience. |

One year to the day that I was up there and with the same great weather. Looks like you parked in the same area too.
It sure is a beautiful area to be seen from the top slopes. |

Lee The tip of the tree would be managable by hand to sneek a smaller vehicle around. If I had my usual arsenal of equipment,I would have just dragged the tip with my truck until it busted, but the continous snow patches proved that it would have been a a waste of time that weekend. For a proper removal, a Chainsaw would be ideal and fast. The tree is fairly safe to cut without difficult binding.

Love your video, always enjoy your commentary and your walking and panning with the camera. It is almost like I am there, and great background music too.

Thanks Karl I havent made a clip in some time. This one was a bit rough,I thought. Footage that seems good in the field, often does not turn out as expected once you are at home. Hope to capture a few new destinations in vid this year |
