North Castle is not a major ascent but I chose it for the scenery. I was hoping there would be little snow but that was not the case. Fortunately the snow held firm and we had an enjoyable day.

Thanks for the great report Bob!
Nice to see Sonny back in action. I was wondering where he was hiding. |

| Thanks Ken. Sonny has been inactive lately but I'm glad he joined us for a few trips this year. I don't expect to hook up with him again until late August when we plan to do a climb near Invermere. |

| It's the Castle Crown area of southern Alberta. Between Waterton National Park and Crowsnest Pass. |

Castle Wilderness is west of Pincher Creek. There is a rainfall warning in effect for Pincher Creek, Waterton, and Crowsnest:
"Pincher Creek area has seen 45 millimetres since noon Thursday and is expected to see an additional 30 to 40 millimetres today. Another impulse of moisture is forecast to move into southern Alberta this evening with a possible 50 to 70 millimetres of rain by Saturday evening. Total rainfall amounts by Saturday evening are expected to reach 140 millimetres."
Nearly half a foot of rain! |

That is spectacular scenery! Castle Peak is aptly named - I'd love to check it out one day. Nice photos. |

I kept thinking of Castle Mountain in Banff. Way off! This is a great route.
