East Canyon Trail - April 26
Well soccer season is finally over, so weekends are once again free.
Originally I had contemplated a quick overnight trip, but it was a busy week and I didn’t manage to get things organized ahead of time, so we settled for a day trip.
We followed East Canyon Trail, the boys on their bikes, and me on foot.

This was not a bad combination since I could give my younger son a bit of a push on the steeper parts.
I was surprised, but the trail was still completely snow covered by the time we reached the beach at 4.5km’s
So we waded across Gold Creek to a nice sand bar on the west bank.

We then spent a few hours doing a whole bunch of nothing , and headed back as the sun was setting.

Next time, we'll make it an overnighter at the 6km beach.

BTW, .. what’s with the door being torn off the outhouse? .. I mean who walks for an hour on a trail, .. and then has nothing better to do then vandalize an outhouse?

Nice trip. I saw your tracks on the way out to the 7 km knoll.
FWIW, the trail has lots of clear spots past ~5.3 km, as of yesterday. If you do go out to 6 km, keep in mind that Thistle Beach has been dramatically reduced in size, at least on the part accessible without wading... |
