I believe I asked about this before. How do I download pictures into the trail wiki? Thanks.

Its not that intuitive yet. The next plan is to integrate the photo uploader into the wiki - should be integrated in April.

For the time being, the best way is to follow these steps:

1. Create a new post. This post can be discarded after.

2. Choose whichever photo uploader you prefer. This will enable you to upload files to the site in general (the same photo repository is used for the forum, trail wiki, and gear wiki).

3. Note down the photo IDs so you can refer to them later in the wiki.

4. Go to the wiki and find the entry you want to update. Click edit.

5. Part way down the wiki entry, you will see places where the photos are. Enter in the photo number(s) you recorded earlier.

6. Once you click out of the entry box or hit tab, the photo will automatically be loaded in for preview. Once you have entered your photos and updated whatever other text you want in the wiki, simply click "save changes" and you're done.

on gear wiki, do these steps work?
i can't seem to get a picture uploaded, or find the little box(es) to enter the pic # (160777) for gearwiki review http://www.clubtread.com/gear/productdetail.aspx?productversionid=755

with a 48 kb jpg file it keeps coming up with the red print "*Jpg,Jpeg,Gif,Png,bmp files only (max size<1MB)" warning, and will not upload. 9 tries, various formats.

very frustrating.

The steps on the gear wiki are a little different. The plan is to get all three working the same soon so it will help...

I've created a set of instructions for the gearwiki as well, you will find them below.

The thing to note about the trail wiki is that there is no need to upload the picture to the forum first. The process is a little simpler.

1. Either create a new entry or edit an existing one.

2. Once you are in edit mode, look near the bottom where the photos can be uploaded. Click upload.

3. Once you click upload, you will be taken to the upload photo window. If you know where the photo is, you can type it in. Otherwise click browse to search for it on your disk.

4. Clicking browse opens a standard browsing dialog (example shown is WinXP). Navigate around on your local machine until you find the photo you are looking to upload and select it. Click Open.

5. You will be returned back to your photo upload dialog and you should note that the file name and path to the file are now in the edit box. Click upload to send that file to the server and associate it with the wiki entry.

6. Once you have uploaded, it will automatically show in the wiki update screen. You can add more photos, change content, etc. and then once you are ready to save the wiki entry, click Update.

7. You will then be taken back to read mode and the photos will be showing in the wiki entry. If there is only one photo, it will show in both the main wiki area, and the photos at the bottom.
