My contribution to this thread would be Brown Pass and Boulder Pass down in Glacier National Park in Montana. You start at Kintla Lake and hike through Boulder Pass, through Brown Pass and out Bowman Lake. A side trip to Numa Lookout near Bowman lake is a nice day hike. This is a spectacular four days with great camp sites along the way.

Lake O'Hara to Moraine Lake requires crossing two glaciers, which turns it into a mountaineering adventure, not hiking or scrambling.

True, strictly speaking, and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone does it in the style of the party in front of us last time I was there - no axes, crampons, ropes, nothing. But unless things have changed dramatically in the past few years, the first glacier is hardly even an icefield and the second, while there is a schrund to contend with at the bottom, shouldn't be beyond the skills of an experienced party. So certainly not for beginners and I'd advise axes at the very least, rope, prusiks and basic glacier skills for the wise.
