I had heard much about this popular hike, its beautiful views and lovely meadow flowers, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. I emailed Flowing-Brook, who kindly agreed to be my guide, and was also joined by Edna and Hedda.
The weather forecast wasn't too bad initially, promising at least some views. But as I was driving to Chilliwack this morning, the sky looked awfully grey without a hint of blue. And then it started to rain.... I was beginning to feel really guilty about dragging my fellow CTers to this hike.
Yep, it was wet and misty up there
The troopers
The view, I can only imagine... Taking pics of the view
Without a view, you have to focus on the beauty close-by
The meadow flowers were still lovely in the mist, the temperature was good for hiking, and there were no mosquitoes on the quiet trail
We reached the cairn, which is somewhere between Elk and Thurston, had lunch and headed back to the trailhead. The car was still there, not scorched or broken into. Phew.
Thank you Lynn, Edna and Hedda for the company and laughs! And thank you to those who have worked hard and continue to work hard to preserve this beautiful trail. I will return to see the view behind the mist. |

| Thank you, Tarja, for agreeing (after a bit of coaxing) to post this TR. Despite the mist your pix turned out just fine and the hike was fun even without the views. I greatly enjoyed your company and that of Lynn and Edna. Let's do it again some time! |

I was happy to be your guide Tarja , and it's always a relief to come back to a car in one piece on that trail. "thank you universe" It was a pleasure to meet you and Hedda today, I hope to hike the trails with you two again soon.
I have a few photos to share, there is so much beauty even when she clouds herself: The girls on their way up to the rockface of Elk: Group shot at the cairn of no-name peak two bumps from Thurston peak: ...it was cold up there, burrrrrrr.
I had a great day, thanks ladies!
Happy trails, Lynn |

| The first time I took Lynn along that trail it was misty and I was really disappointed because I had been talking about the beautiful views but she taught me to open my eyes and see the beauty - thanks Lynn. I really like the spider web pic, I think it's really great. I hope I get to meet you all soon on the trails. Glad everyone had a fun hike, thanks for sharing your pics, Take care, Ed |

| Hey, Flowing-Brook, what about those strawberries you promised would be ripe? Not that we had much of a craving for them anyway. Hot tea would have been nice! |

Nice effects with the mist in your photos, fog does add interesting aspects to photography, a beauty of its own.
