Just like everyone else on CT... I spent my weekend in Manning Park on the Heather Trail. But no one recognized me because I mostly lurk.
So let's change that shall we?
I made it up to the trailhead just before sunset Friday and hiked into Buckhorn, my "basecamp" for the weekend. It was actually a cold night with the temp dropping down to 2 degrees in my tent and outside left frost on the wood walkways and on my tentfly. I mention this because I used my overbag this trip instead of my usual down sleeping bag that's rated for -7. Stupid, so at 5 a.m. I got up and got on the trail and hiked up to the meadows with the rising sun.
Besides that there's not a whole lot new to write about this trail so I'll skip all that and just post a few photos from the trip.

OK, is there anyone here on CT who was NOT on the Heather Trail this weekend?
I love this shot:

I heard it was cold Friday night, although I didn't find it too bad down at Mule Deer campground. When I was packing my bags in the heat of Vancouver weather, I thought bringing my down jacket would be overkill, but later I decided that it wouldn't have been. |

It was a chilly friday night at Buckhorn; my friend slept in a puffy jacket and toque *inside* her brand new -7 bag and was still cold.
...but oh man the stars that night! |

Thanks for the feedback on the photos. It took a while to get them up because I took over 350 photos (got a bit carried away) and had to cut them down to the 40 that I really like.
Hope to see you all on the trails again soon. |

Nice shots Trailfoot. Manning can get pretty cold at night, anytime of year. |
