After a short notice invitation to CT members, two responded and met us at the Agassiz turn off 9:00 am, SKYHAWK (Ron) and Wulf2 (Wulf).
We got to the trailhead by 9:45 and made good time up in about two and a half hours. The elevation gain was 3000 ft and a lot of sweating was in order. First, our group shot:

When we got to the first scary bridge, I tried to cross it without a hand from Mr. B but halfway accross panic set in so I haven't quite defeated my fear on this one. Ron, Wulf, and Stu all crossed like it was a city sidewalk.

Here's a picture of the falls from this bridge, Mr. B took it for me coz I was too afraid.

There were other areas to cross that gave me the willies, a log snag to cross the creek because the bridge was broken down.

There was a lot of Dwarf Dogwood along the trail:

And a bolder field to cross (thank goodness it wasn't long).

There was even a log bridge that I didn't mind at all.

By lunch we were at Eaton lake:

On the hike down Wulf did some trail work, clearing logs and securing the log jam, I lost track of how many logs he cleared:

My last goodbye to the creek we crossed over several times:

I had a great day, thank you Mr. B, SKYHAWK, Wulf2
Happy trails,
Lynn

I'm still thrown off by the snow level difference between Vancouver and anything past Hope. Seymour still has half a meter of snow at 1050m or so, while Hope's snow level is maybe 1600, 1700m. I was up at 1800-2000m and there was only patchy snow in the alpine!!

I know where I'll be hiking the next few weeks.. Great to see Eaton Lake confirmed as snow free.

If it makes you feel better, that would have given me the heebie-jeebies too. I had a similar log crossing somewhere else this weekend, and the other two I was with crossed it effortlessly while I wavered and panicked in the middle. As soon as I changed my thinking from "If I fall I'm going to smash against these rocks and get carried downstream over more rocks" to "Fall? Why would I fall? That's ridiculous!" I was able to proceed. It also helps to find a point on the other side to focus your eyes on, instead of looking at the rushing water below.

The lake sure looks nice though. I've never been there. I wish I didn't know about that log!

You finally made it to Eaton Lake. You will get over your fear soon. I didn't check my email or CT all weekend, otherwise I would have gone. Glad to see you guys had a good time.

It took 1/30 of the time, a great improvement.

Aqua Terra and ShadowChaser:
I was also surprised not to see even a clump of snow up there since we had to turn back in May at the questionable snow bridge:

NorthVanHiker:
Great hike, you'll love it!

Tracy:
Knowing about the bridge makes it more fun, just be sure to bring a friend who isn't afraid of heights because it's not only a log bridge; it's at least 10 feet above rushing water *grins*. The log is huge and solid so I'll be doing a little more meditation and hoping to sail through next time.

Saybe:
That's too bad, we'd have loved for you to join us.

Very nicely done Lynn and group. Unfortunately I never got out Sunday. Slept in and spent alot of that day creating the report from Saturday only to have it crash when I submitted it.
That is a hike I would have liked to join you all on but I thought there would be alot of snow up there also, as well as windfall.
Thanx for sharing another great report.
