Was thinking of trying out the new High Notes Trail over the July 1 weekend, but from the webcams it looks like quite a bit of snow still at the peak. It's hard to judge if heavy duty boots and maybe poles would be suitable, or maybe carry snowshoes. Or are the trails even visible ...?

Anyone been up there lately?

They're still getting fresh snow up there. I'm guessing there's still a couple of meters of snow pack at the higher points of the trail.

Thanks Chuck. Just got an email back from WhistlerBlackcomb people and they say the trails are 'closed' until at least mid-July.

I'm going to be going in On Sunday morning for an overnight with skis. You are welcome to Join me as I will be going slow and you would probably be able to keep up with me on Snow shoes. I imagine the cat road up to flute might be free of snow on to the ridge perhaps where it is exposed to the South. email me if you are interested. I'll be taking the lift to the peak and then traversing from there.

Got to Flute this past Sunday in the mist. Lots of snow and WB alpine trails still officially closed, but the cat track to the top of Whistler is ploughed out. Snow was firm, good walking, no snowshoes needed. Take your axe to be safe.
