| Williams is a great peak, but not necessarily my first choice for a peak you'd do twice. If you know what I mean... |

| Dru,I think I know what you mean, having done it a half a dozen times myself. However,as usual I have ulterior motives, namely i'd like to tick Goetz.I was just reading your bros report.Hope somebody organizes this soon.It could be a lot of fun with a bunch of people, something different. |

| I imagine a good snow aproach/summit is probably desirable or is it fairly good going without snow? |

AT-It's good going without snow.
As for the Ford mountain approach, that would just add unnecessary miles to the climb. In fact,i'd like to start from directly below Williams peak and just bomb straight up to the summit.I've never done it that way,but apparently bush is minimal and it's a good route. |

I just checked the map.Ford mountain is a long way from Williams peak. Are you sure were talking about the same Williams peak?If so,you and Chilliwack Jack are a lot better shape than I am,Williams peak is strenuous enough by the regular route.
AT,you'll like this one,now all we need is an organizer(not me,I couldn't organize a booze up in a brewery)

Better shape ('cos we live in the Valley), but not better looking, right !!!
(I didn't say I'd do it in one day... three days at least, but easier going)...

Whats to organize? Just go when the time is right (that's why we seldom hike with others)

| I did Williams via Ford and attempted previously via the WR trail and going via Ford is longer timewise (like maybe 2-3 hours longer) but notably less strenuous elevation gain-wise because you start 400m or so higher up. The superdirect Ted wants to do is shorter yet but has the same elevation gain to the summit as taking the trail, just steeper and no trail. Can't comment on the bush in that area but I think there are some bluffs to negotiate. |

Yes, it's the same Williams Peak. Do you want to hike all day or just bag a peak? Hiking all day from Ford Mountain is my style, bagging a peak fast might be a climbers style? I'm a hiker, not a climber. Happy trails, Lynn |

| Goetz is a little easier id say, Snow should be mostly gone by now off Williams tho. Boulder field might be interesting. If your gonna do Goetz, stay high above the boulder field, there is a trail through the bush and you don't lose as much elevation. The North face of Williams looks pretty neat from the ridge to Goetz. |

| I'd be intrested in Williams. I am leaning towards starting with the trail route as described in 103 hikes though. |

Yes that is how I would start, been up there twice. First time intended to get to first knoll in 2005 which we did. Second time objective we fell short in 2006 since we had trouble finding the route to Williams Peak.
