It seemed like Lillooet had the best forecast, but the only person who believed me was my friend Trina, and she could only come for two days. But they were two pretty good days.
There is a new parking lot attendant at the crag:
Who knows some cool bouldering moves... seen here mantling out of a chimney

The weather was pretty good but changeable, so we did mostly single pitch cragging at the base of the Lower Wall. We had to spend about two hours on Saturday sitting in a cave while it rained, and after climbing Sunday morning, rain showers started off and on around noon, so we decided to pack up the climbing gear and go hiking.
We ventured over to the actual Provincial Park and decided to check out the falls. In winter this is the ice climb "Icy BC" but I'd never been over there in the summer.
You have to take animal trails above the lake to get around girdling cliffs and close to the waterfall:
At the base we found there was a little bit of ice left hidden in the cave, but the waterfall itself was gushing with runoff:
I searched around under the waterfall for any dropped climbing gear that might be available as booty after melting out from the ice but only found some tattered webbing.
We decided to follow the climbers descent trail and head up to the upper tiers of the falls. You can walk right behind the second tier, which was really gushing
Maybe Crocs weren't the best choice of footwear for scrambling up a muddy limestone waterfall. I had to wash my feet and footwear & then let them dry before we did the scrambling to the uppermost level, because my feet were sliding around in the crocs so much when they got muddy.
The third level is the hardest one to climb and in summer was the most difficult to get to, we got up beside it but not with a good view like the other two.
We scrambled up the trail again and got above the waterfall cliffs and into beautiful grassy glades. Afer hiking through these for 15 minutes or so we found the Murray Creek road and followed it back down to Highway 99.
Pretty decent way to send the afternoon. I should also put in a plug here for "Country Creme" 100% organic, no hydrogenated oil, no trans fat, imitation Oreos. They sure are yummy.
Couple more random photos:
 Emerald Lake
 The headwall.
It was pretty much dead at Marble, there were campers around, but we only saw 4 other climbers the whole weekend, and some of them showed up in the rain and then left again before it dried out. Pretty good weekend. |

That's cause they all went to Skaha! And the weather was great there btw. Looks like you were not the only one enjoying yourself... :)
That's a big ass lot attendant! Did the boulder move at all this time? |

I didn't test that out because the parking lot attendant's condo is located underneath. |

Hmm, I meant to post this in Wildman's TR last week but this seems a good place too.
This is the view of the S. end of marble range/marble canyon from the high country to the West.
Great pictures, I love that area. |

| I would love to do some multipitch there some time. I've only ever done a few sport climbs at the bottom. It's a nice area. Pavilion lake is nice and warm for swimming in. I heard that they discovered some prehistoric coral or something growing in the bottom too. Apparently there are some old pictographs on some rocks in the area too, but I never found where they were. |

Yeah we were talking about that coral thing this weekend. I think from what I remember it is some type of freshwater, reef building algae that flourished in the Mesozoic and is now found nowhere else in the world or something. It'd be cool to dive in the lake and see that! |

Great pics. Thanks for reminding me about Marble Canyon! Haven't been in years.
When I went (in the summer), the falls sure didn't look like that! Nice falls photos... |
