Bruno's is a bit of a hole in the wall looking place where locals eat and keep the secret to themselves.

I'm also a big fan of Bruno's after a day of skiing or hiking - the menu is pretty basic but surprisingly good.

As a Canmore local I can tell you the best food around is Crazyweed but it's a small place and getting in a can be a problem. If I can't get a table I usually head to the Rocky Mountain Flatbread company - awesome pizzas using lots of local and organic ingredients and priced pretty reasonably as well. They also have a market day in the winter and you can go buy organic produce. I haven't tried their curry night but I hear it's good.

I avoid the bagel shop. The food is delicious but I find the staff very confusing - very nice but totally incompetent. I'm not sure how a bowl of soup can take 30 min. or how a sandwich can arrive a good 10 min. before a latte yet this happened to me and my friends repeatedly.

Not a good thread to read if your stomach is already grumbling....now I am STARVING!!

I am more familiar with Jasper than I am Banff or Lake Louise, and when in Jasper I look forward to eating at Jasper Pizza. It is nothing fancy, but the pizza is great, and they don't skimp on the toppings. We also enjoy going for fancy meals at the Moose's Nook in the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Always great food and service.

My wife and I also enjoyed eating fondue in Banff, but I can't remember the name of the resturant.

So many new places to try now, great thread!

You must be talking about the Grizzly House on Banff Ave. I like to drop by that place for a "celebratory" dinner after a long climb or long outing in the backcountry. The food is good and the smoky interior is great for masking any body odor. Haha!
