Facebook seems to be the newest fad in the world of internet friend circles and chat. Somehow I got pulled in. There are two features in facebook that I think are excellent and might be interesting in Clubtread if possible. The first is the photo upload user interface which has a file management system on the left and the photos that are in the clicked folder on the right. Each picture has a box on it that can be checked and the program then uploads the check photos all at once. This would alleviate the problem of trying to figure out what photo you uploaded last and speed up trip report creation. The second feature I like in facebook is the tag feature. Once the photos are uploaded the user has the option of tagging in names of people, objects and places in the photo. Viewers then can hover their mouse cursers over the object and the name appears. This way we can name mt peaks accurately with out having to write ‘distant middle left’. Face book doesn’t do this next idea and I’m sure it would be difficult to do but it would be amazing if we could tag photos and when the tag is clicked it would produce other related pictures. If I upload a picture of Mt. Baker and tag it “Baker” then people could click the mountain and get many more pictures and TR’s relating to that mountain. Lofty dream… I can move this box around with the mouse and name it anything I want.
Once a users mouse moves in that box the words "The Black Tusk" appear.
I know next to nothing when it comes to computers and even less in web design. These suggestions may be difficult to create but I thought I’d throw it out there…

| The image mapping like that is quite a bit of work. If this does not get done, another idea would be...For all thumbnails or even photos, use the Decription value to be shown as the Alt="$Description" so when a thumbnail is hovered or large photo is hovered over with the mouse, the description appears. This way some could get a description without having to open the photo, or finding the one they want to open... And still leave the description displayed on the bottom when opened.(Just another one of my ideas)... |

| I agree those are nice features. But I'm guessing facebook spent a fair bit of money developing all that. Still, there might be some open-source stuff out there that's comparable. |
