JUST an idea... I know I know I got too many ideas 
Here goes...
On the mainpage, a search box and a dropdown box...
The dropdown box could consist of all the main topics in the message board including the trail wiki.
This would give users a way to search from the mainpage, and search either trails or threads. This would be good especially for the wiki because I didn't see a wiki search yet, people currently have to know the general area to find the trails. The site may have some visitors which want to find a particular trail but are unsure which juristiction or area the trail falls under.
If the search boxes were done in a "Include" (I am used to PhP Includes), unsure how it works with ASP, it could be added to the top of every page throughout the entire clubtread website, easier access to the search without having to go to a search page.
The current search page with numerous functions could be called "Advanced Search" and have the link beside the search boxes for an alternate method of search. And of course you could add the wiki field to the advanced so from the advanced search page the wiki could still be searched.
JUST an idea...

That could make for a very long dropdown list...
I am planning a better forum search and ditching the existing out of the box forum one.
Also, there will be a search built for the wiki - its in the task roadmap.
Good suggestions though. I know the search isn't the best at the moment. |

Yea you are right, and it would be overly wide considering the topics... Another idea as well is to just have a search box with either Trails or Forum in the dropdown (forum the default).If those want to get picky and pick a particular category to search they could always click a tiny wee "Advanced Search" link taking them to the same style search there is now...
