Well,...I'm back from the West Coast Trail, and am already tired of the city. I'm thinking of backpacking somewhere this weekend, as the weather report looks great. Carpe Diem (More big words - where did I learn this stuff?)

Anyone interested and have any suggestions? We could do the return to Strike Lake trip and show Tundra how to camp in glorious sunshine .

It's a nice spot to relax, read a book or try a little fishing. I'll see what I can do to arrange a "Bruno" sighting.

Anyone game??? I'd be interested in leaving on Friday and logging a couple more "bag nights".

No thanks HB. I'm keeping the sunshine north of the 49th. You can visit Tundra and Marmot in the south. Bring your rain gear .

I'm throwing Frosty Mountain in Manning Prov. Park into the mix of options. A bit of a harder hike, 7km of switchbacks to the Frosty Creek camp and shelter, but it offers some skoocum views and a chance to check out a new spot.

Ok Hiking Nut. You know we joked about you having to wear your last pair of wet underwear on the WCT. We at Strike Lake really enjoyed the constant drizzle and chilly air, but we all know that you were ready to EXPLODE at the thought at having to trek one more day under Tundra-influenced rain clouds. I left a little talisman just for you at Strike Lake. You can thank me later when your last dry t-shirt has soaked through! Oh, bring wood...we used it all. If your gonna be wet, at least be warm

C'mon, lets go...the mountain is waiting!

I'd like to join this week-end if a group goes to Manning Park. I can leave town as early as friday afternoon. I do not have transportation. I will need to share a ride if there is a vacant seat.

Camping with the Seagull - Interesting . I'm adding Elfin Lakes to the list of options as well. I've never been there before.

Anyone else game for Strike Lake, Mount Frosty, or Elfin Lakes?

My opinion is Elfin Lake is a prime destination but I am saving this hike for later this summer, same as the Joffre Lakes. Frosty Mountain might be a good idea. It's a loop of 28 Kms. Lightning Lakes remains my first option. But since I do not have a vehicle this week-end, I will follow any friendly group.

How about the Heather Trail in Manning Park. It's a great hike. I did it last september. The first campground is located at Km 5 and the next one is at km 11.

Alrighty then, why don't we stick with the Lightning Lakes - Strike Lake campsite option, as that seems to be the groups favorite.

I'm game to leave town (Pitt Meadows) early Friday afternoon, something like 2-3ish.

Shadee - are you coming along or just interested in gear right now?

Seagull - I noticed that you live in Vancouver. Is there any way you can get at least to the Coquitlam Centre area, or anywhere on the #1 near the Port Mann Bridge or in Surrey/Langley for a pick up?

I've got room for 3 people plus their gear so you can both ride with me if you would like. Email me if you want my cell number so we can work out the details.

I'd like to come along if someone has an extra seat and could give me a ride from Langley. Could meet at the Chevron just off the 200th St exit if you're coming via the freeway and can be there at any time.

I'd personally prefer to do Frosty Mountain, but if Strike Lake's better that'd be great too.

Hey Dread. I've got some room. It looks like it might be me, you, Seagull, and maybe Shadee. I'll check in later this evening. It should not be a problem picking you up at the 200th Street Chevron.

All right, just give me a time whenever you know so I can organize a ride out there and I'll see you then.

Hey, _Nut, Make sure you take your fishing rod. The trout were so close, Tundra & I could have hit 'em with a stick. They're cheeky little buggers though.

Hope you have great weather. Frosty still looked a little snowed in (from what we could see through the clouds).

I might be looking to one or two nights next weekend. elfin or joffre may be possiblities.

Hi guys, I might have to bail on this weekend. I've had a few things come up. I'll check in tomorrow morning and let you know for sure what my plans are.

Hi Guys, thankyou for the invite, and the offer to help me out with gear. Tho been agonising over this all day, cos Id really love to join you, I think in reality I just dont have time to put everything together in terms of gear (yes, Im very much a newbie, tho not for long at this rate!)
I will keep my eyes open for future trips when this will be more practical for me (geez hate the word practical, as it can cut out fun!), thanks anyway
meanwhile Im gonna buy a decent pair of boots and do a day hike
