Wow, what an awesome day. The perfect ending to a remarkable summer and I'm ready to ski.
It was great to meet and hike with Rejuvenate, Larryl, Outdoors Guy and Idealistic 74. I hope we can be out hiking together soon.

Rejuvenate and I were struck by "summit fever".
"Let it snow!"

My contribution to the Trip Report:

We, Outdoors Guy, Idealistic 74, Rejuvenate and I met up at St David's Church at West Vancouver. I was late as usual. We started out and promptly got stuck behind moving construction equipment and learner big truck on the spectacular sea to sky highway. We thought we were going to be late meeting up with Sharon. But we were actually right on time meeting her at 8:45 am.

The access road is 3 km to the right after the parking lot of Brandywine (right after the CN railway tracks), if you are coming from
West Vancouver. Thanks to Sharon who was willing to wreck her car going up the access road to the trailhead. On the access road, you can just keep going on straight to the trail head.

We started at about 9:30 am. The temperature was about 2 degree C. Going up the trail with Shawn & Lyda:
Waterfall near the trail. We did not hear the waterfall when we went up. Apprarently the water was frozen, but we could hear it on our way down.

Near the meadow, the sun was coming through:
Sharon & Lana in the front, Shawn & Lyda at the back.

Lana & Sharon looking at Garibaldi with Brandywine as the background:

Group picture at the entrance of the meadow:
Shawn & Lana sitting on the rock and Lyda, Sharon and myself standing.

Pictures of the meadow and Brandywine:

After we clear the meadow, boulders fields and more boulders fields:

At the first lookout after clearing three boulders fields in succession: (We can see Black Tusk, Mtn. Fee)

We climbed the ridge, and looked at Brandywine itself. In the middle picture, you can Sharon & Lena going up Brandywine:

At the ridge at the bottom of Brandywine and looking away from it: (a closer view of Fee & another mountain, Dr. Dru may know)

I was about to go up Brandywine, a guy who was coming down told me that the view around the base of Brandywine was better. So I went around instead of going up:

This is the valley from the base of Brandywine:

It was near the cutoff time, so we all returned. On the way down at the first ridge (if you are going up), we decided to slog down the heather field instead of the boulders, easier on the knees. The sun was setting, and I took a picture of the Brandywine meadow. Very pretty. The picture cannot do justice to the scenery:

We all cleared out by 6:15 pm, all in one piece. No untold story here. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better day and more wonderful company.

Nice. You and Rejuvenate sure do get around, Larry. So you actually hiked up to the meadows instead of driving in via the logging road? I did that hike a couple of times but the last time I was there, there were several people that had just taken the logging road up and were into the meadows in less than a half hour. Is that access still open, do you know?

You know if everyone keeps up with this excellent photography, I think CT could publish one hell of nice coffee table book.

Beautiful hike, scenery, and weather. what more can you ask, and you get back before dark.

I was looking east today from a ridge, over and above the Brew Hut in that direction, but there being so many mountains with snow and glaciers, could not tell which one it was.

Thanks Simon. It was a great day and yesterday the mountain was placing their snow making guns all around the slopes. Snow is in the air up here!

This hike is steep!
Spotted these guys on trials bikes

Larry after a steep climb

Destination - Brandywine Mountain
Black Tusk

Yeah... it was a great day for a hike. The days are getting shorter... so finishing some of these hikes before dark is getting difficult.
Great hike with good company - and of course some well deserved pub food to end the day

Sharon drove all of us to the trail head and we all hiked up through the forest before we got to the meadows.

After we cleared all the boulders fields at the first lookout, we saw two guys ride their motorized bikes all the way up there. We heard the motor noise and were all surprised to see them. They didn't have to spend all that time and energy to hike up to the trail. I believe that Shawn has taken a picture of those two guys with their bikes. He may post it here.
