I want to thank Bob and John for their contributions. I'm looking forward to reading more suggestions and ideas for columns and working with more of you on future editions.

I'd also like to thank you. The article on the ultra light sleeping bag was just what I was looking for.

I have the same one that Bob has. Used it at the last Tantalus thing we did. Awesome bag. I was a bit cool at night, but not too bad, it couldn't have dropped below freezing. Can't beat the size and weight.

Highly recommended.

Good work guys!

I tried out a Montbell #3 bag two years ago (same fabric as the #5 I think), and the damn thing started splitting seams and spreading down all over the place (still finding some of that down today).

Montbell screwed VPO around for a while, but VPO was good about it with me..

Thanks to all 3 guys for the bag reviews. A question regarding bag prices. Do they ever go on sale when they are out of season? For example, the summer season is winding down...Will the summer-style bags be cheaper to buy in the winter? From the big stores on Broadway?

Well done. I too have a Mont Bell (though the #3 which is a -2) and agree it is a great bag. Personally I don't like the feel of the material against my skin so I often use a silk bag liner as well, also helps to keep the bag cleaner.

I just bought the Mont Bell #3 (warmer bag than the one that Bob and Blackfly have).

Mine's a -2C and it packs real small. VPO gave me a nice deal on mine, and I bought two eVent stuff sacks as well

On a slightly different topic and more as a heads up I noticed VPO has a Marmot Pinnacle Dryloft (long) on sale for $400. The pinnacle is my main bag (60 - 70% of use with the difference split more or less between a winter and a summer bag) but I don't have the Dryloft version. Fabulous bag if you're in the market.
