| Even though it is cheating I have found that the Backpacker's Pantry Wicked Good Brownies mix you can buy in the dehydrated food section is really really really good. Wicked good even. It has mini M&Ms in it and it is so good that I would even say it is better than a lot of brownies I have had made in regular ovens. |

Yup, the Wicked Good Brownies are excellent. Best brownies I've ever had.
We had a funny story in the Bowron Lakes -- my daughter was handing out some fudge to a bunch of people we met up with at one of the portages and we got talking about snacks and the Outback Oven. Turned out that one couple had bought a package of the Wicked Good Brownies not knowing that it's a mix for the oven -- my daughter worked out a deal with them that we'd cook the brownies for them for a third of the batch. Oh yeah, and they were staying at the campsite across the lake from us so they ended up paddling over with the brownie mix later that evening to use our oven.
They also threw in some nice Kentucky sipping bourbon as a bonus.
Wicked Good Brownies and bourbon... Mmmm.

I've cooked plain old Western Family just add water brownies with a fair bit of success in my frying pan by using the scorch buster plate and riser bar over my simmerlite. I just use the lid from my cooking pot to cover the frying pan and set the campstove on medium heat for about 25 minutes. Sucks up a bit of fuel that way but the brownies are worth it.

| I have had great results with "aftermarket brownie mixes". Here's another one I use that works great with the OutbackO. I found DR OTEKERS cake mixes w/filling. Apple , berry...You get the idea. You can find them at Safeway or Save-on. Have you tried pizza yet? |
