Saturday noon we decided to head to Pemberton camp in Birkenhead and sunday we'd head to Joffre lakes. But once in Pemby and while buying food for dinner we were told about the country dance happening that night...change of plans, we went to the dance and decided on Semaphore instead. The day was hot and the road long, the trail short and the views amazing. We swum at one of the lakes, explored the waterfalls and next we'd hike up Locomotive... there wasn't any clouds in the sky so the views from it must've been incredible. We started climbing but the heat stopped us half an hour later, we looked back...the lakes were calling our names. We didn't summit that day but we had a luxurious swim in one of the most beautiful places I've seen, and all for ourselves!

What a beautiful area. I have never been there and would like to visit. How long is the hike in? It's not in the 103 Hikes book so I am wondering where I can find the trail description. Any ideas? Thanks.

The trail description is in the Scrambles book. It took us 55 minutes to hike in and probably an hour or more to drive on a FSR road to the trailhead from Pemberton. The place is perfect for camping. The bugs in the other hand were restless but the place is very worth the bites!

Pretty place, especially considering less than an hour to get up. I haven't spent nearly enough time in that corner of the world (north of Whistler).

However, if you're gonna advertise nudity in the title, the least you can do is actually have some. Smiley faces just won't get you into the CT Members drop their gear thread....

Actually, it probably will, but that's beside the point. We're all adults here. Except for Farmer, but I'm sure he won't mind.

Haha...you are right, I was going to post the picture as it was but then something about being territorial stopped me against doing it!!
