A new gear review has been posted to the gear reviews section of the site. Check it out at http://www.clubtread.com/gear/gearreview.asp
This is the thread to discuss the article, ask questions, etc.
Enjoy! |

This looks like a promising new feature on the site. Hopefully we'll see lots of regular new content. Opinionated reviews are hard to come by which is what makes this an interesting prospect.

Great new addition. I'll be looking forward to reading all new columns. I especially like the "Hint" boxes.
Good Job ! |

Great first article. I'm looking forward to reviews of a more opinionated nature. Not just what works, but what dosen't work and why it dosen't work.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Don't be afraid to leave constructive criticism. I have already received some great advice and I'm told that the reviews will improve with experience. The next article promises to have a little more unqualified opinion and some really interesting gear.

Awesome Stephen , well done. I'm looking forward to more. I want to give it some thought as I have a few ideas.

| This is great. I was wondering how beneficial it would be to have a forum set up to allow 'user' reviews of gear? That is, from those who participate in these forums (I have a couple of 'whoppers' I would like to post!). Any interest in that? |

I think it would be great to have members on the site submit their reviews/experiences with different gear. That is essentially one of the purposes of the Gotta Love Gear section on ClubTread.
I also think it would be great to have submissions into the "gear reviews" column. These could be incorporated into the regular column where appropriate with credit going to the author who submitted it.
If anyone has reviews that they would like to submit, please drop me an email. Stephen will be posting some submission guidelines as well to this thread and the gear review announcement thread. It will make things easier when trying to bring the review into the periodic article.
(also crossposting this to announcement thread) |

Gear Column Submission Guidelines
1. Club Tread administration reserves the right to post or edit reviews at their discretion.
2. Preference will be given to interesting, innovative, and/or new gear.
3. All gear reviewed must be field-tested by the person submitting the review.
4. Reviews should be kept reasonably short and simple with anecdotal experience being preferred over tables of empirical data.
5. All facts and sources of hard information should be verified before posting them to the column. Please don’t submit rumors or facts from questionable sources. 6. Wherever possible, make sure that prices are listed in Canadian dollars and indicate if the item being reviewed is available locally.
7. Do not post links or advertise a product for a retailer or manufacturer. If you are asked where a product can be found, you may follow up with an answer. These reviews can be biased by personal opinion but should not be prejudiced by external sources.

Hikerboy, I googled the Montbell jacket I just tried on and presto you'd already done a review! Love that jacket but my newest Marmot Driclime isn't worn out enough yet. Next year maybe.
How about a review of the Montbell UL windshirt? |
