You can view, search and browse photos on Zenfolio and (I think) Smugmug without signing up. They are both more expensive than Flickr for the unlimited account ($40 vs. $25), but the are both vastly superior in design and management features in my opinion. Flickr has better networking value if that's what you are after, though. Zenfolio is planning on rolling out a commnets feature, but for now is "view only."
If anyone decides to sign up for Zenfolio, give me a shout. I'll give you my referral code and we'll both save $10. |

I have a few photos up on Flickr now, though I am fairly new to it and finding it a bit hard to navigate/organize photos. Seems you can't really click from one photo to the next in an album without viewing it as a "slideshow" and if you do that, you can't read the descriptions. Or maybe I'm missing something. I've only just started, but here's what I have so far:

I've also set up a Picassa account but I haven't put any photos on it yet. |

I just got back into photographing the mountains after a thirty year absence. Check out the rockies section photo gallery for my growing collection of pics from Jasper and a few from Banff.

I plan to make up for lost time this year. :)

I don't do any of those. I like to tell a story, in fact I think the story is more important than the shots. So I've chosen to present my pictures on hard-coded HTML web-pages. I wouldn't say that my pages are that great, but I like them.

I agree. It makes sense if I'm solely a photographer looking to sell or show off my photos, but I'm more sharing trips. I often look through people's photosets and want more information. I'm not keen on just putting galleries of a bunch of shots to click through. I post detailed trip reports, liberally illustrated with my photos. I like to share ones that I think came out well, and/or ones that illustrate the trail or conditions well in a way that might help someone else interested in the trail.
my website my trip reports index favourite photos (not yet updated to include this year)

I have a Flickr account whose photo max I reached long ago - but I'm too cheap to upgrade the 20 bucks to a pro account. I tend to justify it by the fact that I use an equally cheap point-and-fall-apart camera which I've dropped off numerous summits and which fell out of my kayak once. Needless to say it isn't firing on all cylinders. But I'm going through a 12-step program to resolve of this. I try to show pics that represent the entire hike rather than the best of the pics which may show only a moment or two on the trail.

Panoramio partners with Google to allow the icons (of where the picture was taken) to pop up in Google Earth and the user clicks on them, showing a full size pic. |

Daniel your work is quite fascinating. If you ever think about using a stock agency to sell your work I think you'd be a good match for photocase. http://www.photocase.com/en/ |

Thanks BillyGoat
you've got lots of great stuff. Do you sell stock, have you had much luck.
I have considered stock photography, but I haven't looked into it much. I'll check that site out.
