Well not much of a post, just very excited and wanted to blab about adding a new member to our family unfortunately we will not be able to take him/her home until September so he will be too small to get out on longer hikes for some time.

LOL, I guess that is one part I forgot to mention, he/she will be a Rhodesian Ridgeback its been years since I have owned a dog life has just been too crazy to even think about that kind of responsibility up to this point

I did a lot of research on this decision before I put money down on the dog, One of my big concerns was that we live in a hot part of BC and wanted a dog that would be able to handle the heat as well as the cold, Rhodesians do require more time put into training and socializing but the reward from these sacrifices makes it well worth it.
The dogs I have owned in the past have both been Great Danes and as much as I love this gentle breed they are just too big to participate in the activities my wife and I are into, (could you imagine a Great Dane in a canoe )

here is a good shot of the ridge on the ridgeback

Rhodesian ridgebacks are very nice. Im considering between a boxer, a Vissla or a rhodesian

Congrats :) I'm sure he/she will be a wonderful addition to the family. Yep a new dog is quite a bit of work but the pay-off will be well worth it.

congrats! we've had our Ranger now for just over 2 years and its sooo hard to imagine life without him.. he's caused some problems, (well, okay, mainly he ate my beautiful black sandal when he was a few months old) , dug a few holes, but he's a pretty good boy! he LOVES hiking, swimming and running.. always so eager.. and he looks so dang fine in his little pack! i'm sure u're gonna enjoy many hikes together!
