Hey there!

I'm pretty new around Revelstoke, and the snow is starting to melt off the trails, so I need someone to hit them with. If anyoneone is in the vicinity of Revelstoke, ie Salmon Arm, Golden, yadda yadda, drop me a line. I'm willing to go a few hours for a backpacking trip, but for day hikes id like to keep it within an hour away from home.

Cheers

Hi Kyle.
So do you have any hikes in mind??? I sometimes come to Revelstoke to hike in the summer. (Revelstoke National Park) and up by Illiciolett.
So have you ever heard of Eagles Pass near Malakawa? I've always wanted to hike it but you would need a trail guide as it is supposedly pretty over-run.
Also have you heard anything about the Revelstoke group that hikes up and into the caves above Rogers Pass. Apparently they are locked but are really spectacular. I've been told that there is a yearly trek up to them

I don't really know of many trails around here yet, I haven't had much time to look into it, but quite a few guys tell me Mt Revelstoke National Park is good, the Mt. Begbie trail is also supposed to be pretty decent. I also would like to take some time this summer and go do the Lake O'Hara trail in Yoho. Glacier national park is also supposed to have some nice trails too, but I haven't looked into those yet either

At first glance I missed the "s" in the subject line....

I never get lost. It's just that sometimes, I'm not sure where I am.

Some additional thoughts for you:

Keystone-Standard Basins is a wonderful trail-I recommend overnighting in the cabin at 11K around the second week in August or so. Mt. Begbie and Mt. Cartier across the valley are both great (and strenuous) hikes that access a lot of good alpine terrain including scramble/ easy alpine climbing peaks. Frisby Ridge northwest of town will also give you a lot of alpine bang for your buck. Enough to keep you busy for a while.

Wish I could help you with this, but my trips up there generally get planned as I'm loading gear into my car. A beautiful part of the world that was my "home stomping ground" for several years.

Some new news has come to my attention about this place. Malakwa is native for misquito, and supposedly its a horrible fitting name.

The Malakwa mosquitoes are apparently quite good toasted over a campfire.
