There have been an increasing number of posts to the lodge area of the site. Some of it is interesting to me, alot isn't. I've seen alot of sites start getting bogged down with political stuff too and it ends up creating more animosity between members than is really necessary. So a request I have is to try to stay away from politics and religion on the lodge area.
I'm sure some people hate the lodge, while some enjoy it.
That being said, I have created a new link at the top of the page. I am sure more are aware of, and are already using the "Active Topics" button. I now have added an additional button called "Active HIKING Topics".
For those not interested in the other non-hiking forum areas, this link is for you. Simply select this one, instead of the regular active topics, and you will get a filtered active topics list.
What is missing? Essentially the following forums:
* The Lodge * Conservation Corner * Leaving the boots at home * Shutterbug - Photography Talk * Hiking Humor
The top 3 in the list above were easy. The hiking humor seems to be more general humor than anything so I figured it was safe too. I actually am moving that forum to a different category since 90% of the jokes haven't been hiking related.
The photography forum was the only one I toiled over. For the time being I am going to keep it in the filtered list since it isn't really a hiking topic, even though it accents it.
Those who want to continue to see those topics can use the usual active topics link. Those who do not want to see them can use the active hiking topics link.
I would also recommend you bookmark the active topics link of your choice - it saves a few clicks.

| Thanks a lot, Jim. This is a very usefull feature, and will hopefully keep those people on CT that were turned off by non-hiking topics. |

Great idea! I've seen a lot of people turned off by some of the non hiking topics, but once in a while we all need a place to vent. Thanks Jim

Good idea, Jim! Leaving photography out is a toughie, but that's why you get the big bucks though, eh? |

| I scan my way through the forums that interest me, and click on the pink ones. I've never used 'active topics' either, but it still sounds like a good new feature, given the proliferation of non-hiking threads. |

Nope, I do too - It's the only way I scan the board. I can't be bothered with all that clicky, clicky.
Oooh, look, new post! |

Thanks Jim. I was getting tired of getting flack. If it were up to me I would axe these, * The Lodge * Conservation Corner * Leaving the boots at home However I guess there are some gems that pop up from time to time.
Here is a fine example of why I get pissed. For crying out loud some people just don't get it do they http://www.clubtread.com/sforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14074 |

Maybe we could get the Trekkies posting on about flaws in episodes of "Star Trek" too ? |
