I think Vancouver has tons of nice spots for sunsets (just three examples):
 Sunset Beach, Vancouver
 Whytecliff Park, Horseshoe Bay

  -- sunsets near Ross Green Lake, Wrangell-St.Ellias National Park, Alaska.
 - Sunset near Lethbridge.
  -- sunset from Mt Seymour
 - Sunset from Birkenhead Mtn
 - somewhere in the Foothills of AB
  - Wedgemount Lake, looking west (sunset).
  - sunrise from Mt.Lefroy
  -- sunset Blowdown Lake area
 - headlamps on Mt Rainier
 - Arctic Ocean sunset west of Barrow, Alaska.

You know, nobody ever believed me when I tried to say that Powell River has some great sunsets. My fave was that long distance view up the Strait with the sun melting into the horizon on a glass-calm sea and with the crystal clear air.

F 5.5 - 1/4 sec ISO 100 no filter, was a bit OE and toned down for actual true image.
