You're spending a fair bit of time in the Theta Lake area, is that going to be the new spot where the hot dog cart'll be set up

Nice to see you posting again GH. That chunk of snow in your third picture looks about the spot where Chris ended up after his slide.

thank you. yep, that is the spot.

The last eight locations have not shown profit. My banker keeps asking me to do more research.

Good idea for a thread.

Me and Stacey went up Seymour Jan 21st, made it as far as 2nd peak and didn't try the traverse over to 3rd because the snow was very icy, and hard hard packed.

1. Hardcore ladies group stretching it out on the trail
2. Paved super highway
3. Finally felt good to get out of the fog
4. Decided to go up the face of pump, keep things interesting
5. Feel the burn
6. Almost there

1.Scavenger over on 2nd peak
2.Some butt sliding action coming down from 2nd peak
3.Mandatory fog shot

Felt good to get out of my winter hibernation state. It was also nice to finally see the sun again, after being stuck in the fog the whole time it was here.

My buddy John and I were up to second peak today. A stunning day indeed. A bit cold in the wind but balmy elswhere. Crampons are the order of the day. We never used our snowshoes as the snow was hard as a rock. I put on my crampons for the trip down as the snow was getting just a tad slippery in the sun.

Tell me about it. Went out today after a whole month of doing nothing because I hurt my knee while skating. We went up on skis. Can't tell you how happy I was to go down the ski hill. I don't think I would have liked coming down the regular hiking route. Too icy and too many people. I bet there were as many people at Seymour today than on Robson street!

Good news, the knee is in working order. AT, Spunky, hint hint...

Nice bumping into you, Marc and Piika!

Just went back and re-read this thread. Greenhorn sure made for a good laugh with some of his antics/posts.

I"m sorry if there are no google earth photos or avy testing done on the day. Just that the snow was hard as hell underneath the new snow and made lots of funky hollow noises at times.

Jan 19th, bombed up the face of pump peak in leathers, it was wind blown and hard as F*@!. Alittle sketchy, ice axe handy, and crampons would have been a good idea.

No trail from 2nd peak over to 3rd peak, so I decided to take off the snowshoes and cut a trail across the traverse to the top. Hard as hell, I could only kick my leather boots in a quarter of my foot. Felt safe enough with the ice axe, so I carried on.

Something nice about seeing your hard earned tracks

So yeah Blogcenter, conditions thread, whatever you call it, bring campons.

Got out for some mountain time Thursday afternoon. Interesting day! Conditions:Still plenty of snow, ice axe essential for traverse between Second and Third, and crampons likely useful. Beer up, read captions for the whole story!

June 24, 2012 - Still snow all the way from parking lot on the trail. Although you can go up the access road on the ski hill and its clear since it was plowed. Otherwise lots of snow everywhere still. Today started out with fog but mostly clear above and all the north shore mountains could be seen in the morning. Fog worked its way during the day and by the time we were on the trail (about 11) it was pretty cloudy on the trail with the occasional break.

My son looking at sign and only top is sticking out above the snow. Sign just a few minutes hike up from parking lot. Alpine trail had a couple inches of soft snow on it so was pretty good hiking with just boots on.

Playing with some snow near mystery peak before leaving ski run for trail again.

Sitting on sub peak just south of first pump peak. Had a snack before heading up to peak. Two skiers came down just as we were going up! Saw several people heading for second peak and breaks in the clouds afforded views of third peak and runner peak. Heading down things were getting softer and the trail down the south face of first pump was getting really slushy. Skiers came down it too. Met nice gentleman back near the ski run and talked about Kilimanjaro (me) and Aconcagua (him). Back to car and off to lunch at White Spot. Bought some new crampon protectors at the new MEC store location in North Van as the old rubber ones were disintregating. Had to play with the crampons today to break them in this year but really werent needed as my son spent the whole day in runners although his feet were wet by the end.

Went up Seymour on Sunday afternoon, January 13th, 2013. Took my backcountry skis up to first pump and back. Wow, there was a lot of people up there. The hill sure is popular when the sun finally comes out, who knew?

I took my new GoPro 3 out on it's virgin run. Haha, wow that little tiny thing captures video very nicely!
