Is it just my browser, or is ClubTread failing to provide a favicon?
 Shouldn't CT have a favicon?
Were CT to have a favicon, what should it be?

The icons that show up in your bookmarks or favorites for certain sites. The filename for them is "favicon.ico" and is located on the root of the server (ie/ http://www.clubtread.com/favicon.ico) |

I believe it's a small icon next to the bookmark in your internet explorer favorites menu. Correct me if I am mistaken...

It is that tiny icon that should appear in front of the site URL in your browser. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon here is the introduction...quote: A favicon (short for "Favorites icon"), also known as a page icon, is an icon associated with a particular website or web page. A web designer can create such an icon, and many graphical web browsers—such as recent versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, Safari, and Konqueror—can then make use of them. Browsers that support favicons may display them in the browser's address bar, next to the site's name in lists of bookmarks, and next to the page's title in a tabbed document interface.
CT has its own domain, there are more than 6 signed-up members, it is asking for new spring banners, but no favicon!

Needed? BillyGoat, a favicon is not needed.
Sure, there are workarounds.
We are talking about the quality and maturity of the ClubTread site.

I took the liberty of converting your gif to an icon, RockHopper - and added it to the site. Thanks for the contribution
Of course, LongShadow has final say on this, but I think he's still got some Spring banners to keep him busy for a while... |

| I like it, simple and eye catching. I know it really does not make any difference to the actual site, but they do look nice I think. |
