Gain: 256 m
The road runs from the Sawback Range to the Bare Mountains while passing the Palliser Range. Creek and river crossings are necessary. Elk and sheep can be seen along the route. The section up to Stoney Creek has been designated as a biking path only because of the high Grizzly Bear population. Technically, the end of the trail is at the Ya-Ha-Tinda Ranch in the Red Deer River valley.
History:
After the collapse of two bridges in the summber of 1984, the Cascade Fire Road was converted to a foot, horse and bike trail.
