Details

Follow the RR trail to the creek crossing at the north end of Alouette L . Instead of heading west parallel to the lakeshore walk in a NW direction and in less than a km you will intersect an old but obvious trail that has several sections of elevated walkways made from hand split cedar , steps , and a bridge across the creek ( Not useable and easily bypassed ). After the bridge the trail steepens as it climbs the ridge and is somewhat harder to follow although there is some old flagging . Once across the saddle and starting down the slope towards Stave you pick up an old overgrown roadbed that disappears into the water at the edge of a small lake that can be bypassed by bushwhacking along the slope on its left (West) . The road reappears at the other end of the lake and though parts of it are creekbed can be followed to an old collapsed cabin on the Stave shore .

Glacier Bay can be accessed from that point in about 2 hours by heading north along the Stave shore.
