Directions

There are two trailheads for this trail. Both are on the Cabot Trail and are well signed. The northern trailhead is at Halfway Brook near Neils Harbour. The southern trailhead is at the Black Brook Cove parking lot. The Jackpine Trail and Jigging Cove Trails can be added to this hike to make it longer.

Details

If you start from the Black Brook Cove trailhead you can take the Coastal Trail trailhead at the lower end of the parking lot to start the coastal trail immediately, or you can take the Jack Pine Trail trailhead at the upper end of the parking lot to do a ~2km interpretative trail (a partial loop) and hook back up with the coastal trail. The trail travels along headlands and across cobble beaches. After a few kms the Jigging Cove trail junction appears in the woods. This trail goes up hill through the woods to Jigging Cove Lake. Going up to the lake, and then around it on the Jigging Cove Lake trail, then back down to the Coastal Trail will add about 7km to your hike. Past the Jigging Cove junction, the trail continues along the coast several kms to the Halfway Brook trailhead.
