Galatea Day Use area, on Hwy 40. 17.2 km north of the Kananaskis Lakes Trail & Hwy 40 interchange or south 32.7 km from Hwy 1.
Details
The trail begins with a bridge over the Kananaskis river and then along Galatea creek crossing it a number of times on excellent bridges. Lillian Lake is surrounded by trees. It has a good campsite with outhouses, bear-poles, tent pads.
Lower Galatea Lake is at a higher elevation and is much more photogenic.
Upper Galatea Lake is overlooked by several mountains, foremost among them is ‘The Tower’
