Details

A very pretty trail leading through open forest and lots of different little ecosystems. At one point fairly early in the hike you go along a small ridge and the trail splits. Take the left fork - the right one seems to go to an uninspiring view over a clearcut. There are beautiful views later in the trail, in 2009 it provides a striking viewpoint over the Tyaugton Lake fire area (fire was in June 2009). There is a great lunch spot at the high point. After that the trail drops a little and breaks out into gorgeous alpine meadows. Although it's decribed here as a linear there-and-back trail, it can in fact be done as a loop according to the (very useful) Southern Chilcotin Mountains trail map. Distance is approximate, elevation gain around 700 m.
