Title: Light tool with most essential features
Score:
Written by: ChuckLW Created Time:12/21/2009 12:50:34 AM
Strengths: Full size yet reasonably light
Weaknesses: No scissors or can opener
Conclusions: This is an elegant multi-tool offering full size pliers, a decent, locking blade as well as a few other tools and features. Very compact and light for a larger multi-tool in a cleverly designed package.

Title: The best multi tool

Strengths: Light, just the features most needed
Weaknesses: Stupid carabiner style thing
Conclusions: I'm not a fan of multi tools. They're heavy and mostly stuffed full of stuff no one uses. This is the best of the bunch. If you're using it for ski mountaineering, check the bit for your binding screws, you'll probably need to buy another one. I'm thinking of taking a hack saw and cutting off the carabiner clip thing. Not needed, waste of weight.

Title: Simplified multi-tool.

Strengths: Tough 154cm blade, lightweight, basic necessary tools.
Weaknesses: Still not a full size, awkward to grip handles.
Conclusions: The great lightweight Leatherman. I puchased mine from the Leatherman store in Portland for $65.00 USD (Mnf error, no extra bit inset). The blade on the CX is made of 154cm stainless and has no serrations which makes it easier to sharpen in the field, though the blade comes razor sharp from the factory. It has all the necessary tools, no extra unnecessary ones which keeps the weight down. It comes with a clip and carabiner which makes it super easy/convenient to carry.
