Description

This handy little stove stand converts a canister-mount LPG stove to a remote canister configuration, letting you use a windscreen in foul weather, and thus overcoming a major weakness of the canister-mount design.

If pack weight is an issue, this is an excellent solution. The combined weight of the stand and one of the lighter LPG stoves is comparable to or

lighter than many remote-canister specific models. Use the LPG stove by itself

in good conditions, or when you need to keep the weight down. Pull this stand and a flexible windscreen out of your pack when weather conditions warrant. The tripod configuration may also improve stove stability, especially when the canister is nearly empty.

Features

* Folding tripod is stainless steel and aluminum, with a flexible stainless steel braided fuel line.

* Fuel shutoff valve at canister.

* Includes fold flat, aluminum windscreen

Title: Marvelous canister stove accessory

Strengths: Very cheap option that dramatically extends utility of canister top stoves
Weaknesses: Weight could be reduced further
Conclusions: Although this unit could be improved (lightened) by substituting aluminum for the steel legs, I still feel it deserves a 5 star rating based on value for performance.

Even with the steel construction, the combined weight of this unit with a typical canister mount stove is lighter than virtually any remote canister stove. The remote set up is definitely more stable than a canister top set up. The major added advantages are that it allows the use of an included wind screen around the stove and, if required, the inversion of the canister for liquid feed. The control valve mounted on the canister provides very precise simmer control.

Field use in windy, near freezing conditions (7700' elevation) provided VERY efficient fuel use. Net 220g SnowPeaks Giga canister was good for the following cooking for 2 people: 2x Sidekick dinners (boil 500ml and extended simmer), 2x boil 1 l. for after dinner drinks and washing up, 2x boiling 1.5 l. for breakfast oatmeal, hot drinks and washing up, boil and simmer 1 l. for lunch soup and leaving 100g net fuel remaining (total 7 l. boiled, plus simmering with a total consumption of 120g fuel).
