These shoes amazed me when I took them to Thurston, wonderful on steep hills especially when going up. Lightweight and easy to cary on your pack.

can induce face plants |
| Conclusions: |
I love my lightning ascents because they work so well - solid in powder and ice. They have fantastic traction for going uphill, and the televator device is really quite nice. The only drawback - and it is somewhat considerable - is that if you step on the frame of one snowshoe with the other, it is likely you'll do a faceplant because the teeth on the frame catch. I am often tentative on them because of this (call me clumsy for stepping on my shoes...).
