Description

Custom-processed 7075 T7 Easton aluminum frame. The lightest, strongest tubing on the planet. Snowshoe decks are made of an extremely light, abrasion resistant material called Duratek: Articulation—Stable Movement: The location of our Arch-Flex binding puts the movement right under the ball of your foot so you can walk naturally, like you’re not even wearing snowshoes. The patented Spring-Loaded action of our bindings gives you 10 lbs. of energy return with each step. So there’s less impact on muscles and joints. The Spring-Loaded action also controls and balances the snowshoes’ movements. This eliminates shin banging, shoe dragging, twisting in the heel and ankle pressure from traversing on sloped ground: Comfort—Fit and Feel: Atlas makes bindings specifically for your left and right foot. Seems obvious when talking comfort, but not everyone does it. Our easy-to-use Arch-Flex™ binding has built-in arch support, a padded tongue and tightening system that distributes pressure evenly for a secure fit. No pressure points means normal blood flow and warmer, more comfortable feet. The angle, placement and size of All-Trac toe crampons, heel crampons and Traverse Trac side traction rails are designed to give you solid footing on all types of terrain: uphill, downhill and side slopes. The Spring-Loaded action of our bindings allows the crampon teeth to dig deeper into the snow. So you exert almost no effort to get complete traction. Our patented double-layer deck prevents crampons from clogging with snow. So your last step of the day is as good as the first. These snowshoes are 2004 model year shoes and may differ from the model year pictured.

Title: Best option for the big guy...
Score:

Strengths: Good flotation, good crampon
Weaknesses: Long and bulky
Conclusions: I don't have alot of choices given my size/weight + gear. This was a good balance of snowshoes that offer enough flotation and features for areas that I would normally use them in. Works well in varying types of snow.
