Title: Beginner shell
Score:
Written by: Hiker Boy Created Time:3/17/2007 3:52:28 PM
Strengths: Inexpensive and lightweight
Weaknesses: Condensation station, delaminates
Conclusions: The price is right and it is very packable but don't expect to stay dry unless you are right on top of adjusting your vents often because this jacket does not breath. The PU coating on this shell will start to delaminate after 2-3 years. I also found the hood visor to be useless and scrunched up when I cinched up the hood. The torso length of the shell could use to be a little longer as well.

Strengths: Very packable with pit zips
Weaknesses: Sweaty and not 100% waterproof.
Conclusions: This is a great 'just-in-case' jacket that can be shoved at the bottom of the pack for day trips. I would not rely on it for any extended periods in the rain. While hiking it does not breathe at all... it soon becomes cold and clammy within. Mine has also begun to delaminate.
